Life lately has felt a bit like a balancing act between chaos and calm.

But that’s motherhood, chronic illness, and the general mess of being human all compiled into one, right?

The Low Points

Let's rip the plaster off and get straight to it:

• My health is still rough 😭 Legs are swollen and sore, and now my hands have joined in the pain party. The colder weather definitely isn’t helping and I'm relying on text to speech a lot more so my hands get a break.

• I'm in the Fibro flare from hell 🙃 On 16 October, while trying to get Baby Bear to sleep, my hands gave out mid hold and his little head accidentally hit my eye in the scuffle of trying to scoop him up as quickly as I could 🤦‍♀️Hello instant bruise, instant guilt and an instant flare-up that’s still ongoing.

• Absolute Kitchen chaos 🫠 Turns out our kitchen has been slowly flooding for months… from a waste pipe. We’re now knee deep in a full refurb. Yay us.

• Car drama (again) 🙄Remember the one I mentioned last month? Well, it turned out to be a total dud as the engine blew! It was going to be a massive repair bill, so I was refunded. Luckily, I found a Vauxhall Mokka soon after that feels meant to be if im honest, so silver linings and all.

The High Points

Now for the good stuff that helped balance out all the chaos:

• New coping tools 😌 I’ve started reminding myself, “I’m an adult, I CAN do this,” whenever stress begins to hit, and it’s genuinely helping. I've also been gratitude journalling and thanking the universe nightly which is keeping my mind steadier aswell.

• Mental health progress 🧠 I’m on new antidepressants at the moment and slowly feeling more hopeful, especially after months of postnatal depression lows which have been quite brutal.

• New car joy 🥳 My new Mokka is a dream! It's roomy, comfy, and best of all, there will be no more mini workouts just to strap Baby Bear in 🙌

• Halloween fun 🎃 We carved pumpkins, made decorations, and had a bunch of chilled spooky movie nights 🎬 Slowing down has really helped me appreciate the small moments more.

• Little Bear’s big costume 💀 He went in full Ghost (Call of Duty) cosplay this year! But the best part was definitely the prep time as they were such sweet bonding moments.

• A nap well earned 😴 S and I planned a game day while Baby Bear was with Auntie C… but my awful flare up had other plans... So, nap day it was, and honestly, there's no regrets!


October’s usually my favourite month, but this year? Well, it's been a bit of a rollercoaster Still, there were enough sparks of light to make it through the dark moments.

Looking Towards November 🎄

Now that Halloween’s done, I’m fully in Christmas mode.

I know, I know, it’s only just November 😅 But I can’t help it. I don’t decorate until December, but I love getting festive early so I can plan, prep, and actually enjoy December stress free.

Especially since it’s Baby Bear’s birthday month as well, so wish me luck! 😬

What I’ve Been Watching, Reading & Listening To 🎬📚🎧

Watched 📺

• Kpop Demon Hunters - I’ve seen it a gazillion times thanks to Baby Bear. Honestly, I could probably act it out without a script at this point.

• Monster (on Netflix) - Let’s just say that I enjoyed it for what it was. I tried to view it through the lens of Ed Gein’s imagination, which made it feel like a strange psychological fantasy. Was it enjoyable? Yes, it was a good watch and well produced. Was it completely accurate? Nope!

• Vikings - Well, we finally finished! It took us over a year because S and I only watched it together, but we got there. I adored Floki’s return, but do wish the ending hadn’t felt so rushed.

Listened To 🎧

• Dracula by Bram Stoker (Audible) - I polished off my third listen and it's still flawless.

• Onyx Storm by Rebecca Yarros - It's been perfect for late night unwinding while I try sleep.

• Elemental Magic: The Complete Edition by Chandelle LaVaun - I just started this on the 27th, so I’ll share thoughts next month.

Horror Marathons 🎥

Because October means horror, we had movie nights on repeat:

• Nightmare on Elm Street
• Scream 1 & 2
• Longlegs
• Arachnophobia
• Tusk
• Beau is Afraid
• The Thing
• And yes… all the Twilight movies. It’s tradition 😉

On the Blog 💻

This time round i’ll be skipping over the Latest Blog Posts section. As Halloween is over, the latest posts may not be as relevant right now.

October has reminded me that even in exhaustion and chaos, there’s still some beauty hiding in all the small moments 🥰 The warm cups of tea, my baby’s laugh, a quiet evening movie, or simply watching my boys interact.

Now November feels like a clean slate, a chance to rebuild routines, lean into warmth, and prepare for a slower, more intentional winter filled with connecting with Mt loved ones ❤️

Until now, I’ve only shared a few freebies with you, but today marks the start of something new.

This is the first of my monthly newsletters, and I’m super excited to be here reflecting on September while looking ahead to October, my favourite time of year! 🥰🎃👻

September has been a real mixed bag!

There have been some beautiful highs and some really tough low 😔 and honestly, it’s left me feeling a bit wobbly, but also grateful.

The Low Points

I’ll start with the not so great bits. My health took a turn this month with extreme swelling in my legs, random nosebleeds almost every day, and excruciating hand pains. There was also a scary hospital trip for my gran after she fell and hurt her face.

Baby Bear’s tantrums have also been dialled up to 100 (send help), and Sky once again failed to deliver on their promise to get us connected to the internet. After months of waiting, we finally cancelled. And to top it off, my car brakes gave out.

It’s been A LOT.

The High Points

But amongst all that chaos, there were moments of joy that truly lifted me.

Both my gran and I celebrated birthdays this month 🎂 double the cake, double the fun.

We had a lovely day out at The Kelpies which was nice.

LB made me so proud by winning awards at school, and Baby Bear has started using three plus word sentences which is amazing 👏

I also pushed myself to say yes to more things, which felt really freeing.

And because my car breaks went, I got a new one which I fell in love with! (though I’m still waiting to hear if the engine is a dud, so fingers crossed for me).

The best news though? I don’t have to have a full neck dissection!!!!.🥳 Relief doesn’t even begin to cover it, but this now raises more concerns on my end (I’ll have a separate post about this soon) 🖥

September has been a strange one, but it’s really helped me to reframe my thinking.

Sometimes the hardest months are the ones that reset your perspective.

Looking Ahead to October 🍁

Now that we’re about to step into October, which happens to be my absolute favourite time of year by the way 😍🎃 I’m looking a head at what’s to come.

Autumn is here in full swing with its crisp mornings, cosy evenings that are getting darker earlier (LOVE the dark night), golden leaves, and just all round great vibes.

Also, it means Halloween magic is just around the corner!

I simply love everything about this season: the spooky vibes, the comfort food and the chance to slow down and savour it all.

I’m going into October hopeful.

Hopeful for more calm, more joy, and more space to enjoy all the little things this season brings.
